The People Who Keep Coastal Cooling Moving

Coastal Cooling Systems has been part of Durban commercial refrigeration and air-conditioning since 1998, and the team is built around that kind of steady, practical service. From planned maintenance to breakdown call-outs, each person plays a clear role, so clients get quick answers and work that is done properly the first time.

We work across Glen Anil, Durban North, Umhlanga, Pinetown, Ballito and the South Coast, with support for cold rooms, freezer rooms, display chillers and commercial air-conditioning. The work changes from site to site, but the standard stays the same: keep equipment running, keep temperatures where they should be, and help clients avoid costly downtime.

  • Commercial refrigeration and air-conditioning
  • Planned maintenance and service contracts
  • Breakdown support across the KZN coast

Sibusiso Mthembu, Managing Director

Sibusiso Mthembu founded the business in 1998 and still keeps a close eye on the way work is done. He knows the pressures that come with retail stock, food safety, tenant schedules and coastal conditions, so he expects clear communication and reliable follow-through on every job.

He is often involved in larger projects and long-term service planning, especially where clients need support during busy trading hours or during load-shedding. His approach is straightforward: understand the site, set the standard, and make sure the team has what it needs to deliver.

Priscilla Naidoo, Operations Manager

Priscilla Naidoo keeps the day-to-day side of the business moving, from scheduling site visits to making sure the right technician gets to the right call-out. She works closely with clients who need regular feedback, especially where service contracts and compliance checks are involved.

Her role is important on the KZN coast, where a missed visit or delayed update can lead to spoiled stock or uncomfortable trading conditions. She keeps the admin practical and the communication clear, which helps the technical team stay focused on the work.

  • Job scheduling and client communication
  • Service contract coordination
  • Follow-up on breakdowns and planned maintenance

Themba Dlamini, Senior Refrigeration Technician

Themba Dlamini handles cold room, freezer room and display chiller work with the kind of attention that comes from years on site. He is used to tracing faults in compressors, controls, sensors and refrigerant circuits, and he understands how coastal humidity can affect equipment performance over time.

He is also careful about temperature logging and compliance checks, which matters for businesses that store food, dairy or other temperature-sensitive stock. When a site has repeated faults, Themba looks at the whole system not just the obvious symptom, so the fix lasts longer. That saves time and money, especially where access is tight or product turnover is high.

Kyle Govender, Air-Conditioning Supervisor

Kyle Govender leads the air-conditioning side of the work, from maintenance in small offices to larger commercial and industrial systems. He understands how heat, dust and long operating hours can wear a system down, particularly in Durban North, Umhlanga and inland areas where air-conditioning runs for long stretches.

His focus is on practical cooling performance, clean airflow and energy awareness. He helps clients spot issues early, whether it is poor cooling, strange noise, blocked drainage or electrical faults that show up when equipment starts cycling badly. On busy sites, that kind of attention keeps comfort and productivity on track.

  • Aircon maintenance and fault finding
  • Drainage, airflow and electrical checks
  • Support for commercial and industrial sites

Zanele Khumalo, Service Contracts Coordinator

Zanele Khumalo keeps service contracts organised and easy to follow for clients who want scheduled support rather than emergency only repairs. She manages reminders, records and visit planning, which helps businesses stay ahead of breakdowns and stay ready for inspections or audits.

She also works closely with the operations team when a contract site needs extra attention after power cuts, high season demand or a spell of wet weather. Clients value her calm, clear updates because they know where they stand, and what comes next. It is simple work done well, but that makes a big difference on the ground.

Aiden Pillay, Projects Estimator

Aiden Pillay puts the numbers and scope together for new installations, upgrades and larger repair work. He looks at site access, equipment size, electrical supply, refrigeration load and the kind of daily use the system will face, then prepares estimates that reflect the real job.

His experience helps clients plan properly before work starts, whether it is a new cold room in Ballito, a freezer room upgrade in Pinetown or an air-conditioning replacement in Durban North. By asking the right questions early, he helps avoid surprises later, especially where trading hours or municipal requirements affect the programme. He is also the one who checks that small details are covered, from pipe runs to testing and handover.
