Why People Join Our Team
Coastal Cooling Systems has been working from Glen Anil since 1998, serving businesses in Durban, Durban North, Umhlanga, Pinetown, Ballito and the South Coast. Our work is hands-on and varied, from planned maintenance and breakdown call-outs to temperature logging, leak detection and compliance checks. Some days are about a restaurant freezer room, other days a retail display chiller or a commercial air-conditioning system that needs attention before trading starts. We look for people who can work neatly, think clearly and stay calm when a site is under pressure.
Our team is small enough for everyone to know what is going on, but busy enough to offer proper exposure to real commercial and industrial work. You will be working with experienced people who understand coastal humidity, salty air, load-shedding and the pressure that comes with keeping stock safe. If you want steady work and a place where your effort is noticed, this is the kind of environment you should apply for.
Roles We Commonly Hire For
We do not keep a public vacancy list with dates, but we often look for people in the following areas when the right opportunity comes up:
- Refrigeration technicians for cold rooms, freezer rooms and display chillers
- Air-conditioning technicians for commercial and industrial systems
- Service coordinators who can handle calls, schedules and follow-ups
- Project support staff for installations, upgrades and site work
- Junior assistants who want to learn the trade properly
Experience helps, but attitude matters too. We value reliability, a good work ethic and the ability to communicate well with clients on site. If you have worked in hospitality, retail, warehousing, food storage or building services, that background can be useful here.
What The Work Involves Day To Day
Our careers are not office-bound and the work changes with the season, the site and the urgency of the call-out. One morning may start with a compressor issue in Ballito, then a temperature check in Durban North and an air-conditioning fault in Pinetown by the afternoon. Coastal conditions can be hard on equipment, so attention to detail matters. You need to spot worn components, low gas, poor drainage, dirty coils and electrical faults before they become bigger problems.
We expect a practical approach, clean workmanship and respect for the client’s site rules. That includes wearing proper PPE, keeping tools in order and leaving plant rooms and work areas tidy. It also means working within food safety and municipal requirements where they apply, especially on sites with storage, catering or public access.
What We Value In New Team Members
We hire people who can learn, ask sensible questions and represent the company well on site. You do not need to know everything on day one, but you must be willing to build your skills and follow proper procedures. If you are joining us in a technical role, you should be comfortable with fault finding, basic electrical checks and safe handling of refrigerants and equipment.
- Punctual and dependable
- Neat appearance and good site manners
- Clear communication with clients and the office
- Ability to work independently or in a team
- Comfortable with call-outs, maintenance schedules and urgent jobs
We also value people who understand the local environment. Humidity, power interruptions and high-demand trading hours can all affect a site, so practical thinking goes a long way.
Training, Growth And Experience
Our work covers planned maintenance, breakdown response, servicing and project work, so there is room to gain broad experience over time. A junior person may start by assisting on site, learning how systems are laid out, how to log readings and how to prepare equipment for a service visit. A more experienced technician may take on fault finding, client updates and more complex repairs. We want people who can grow with the business and get better at the trade year by year.
We also pay attention to consistency. A good technician or coordinator is someone clients remember because the work was done properly and the communication was clear. That is the standard we try to keep across every branch area we serve.
How To Send Your CV
If you would like to be considered for future opportunities, email your CV to service@coastalcoolings.co.za. Please include your contact number, the area you live in and a short note about the kind of work you are looking for. If you have technical certificates, trade papers or previous site experience, mention that too. We recieve a number of enquiries, so a clear CV helps us match the right person to the right role.
We review applications when suitable positions come up. If your skills fit our work, someone from the team will be in touch.
